This beautiful log home that we built for a client outside of Milford is essentially a kit, as most log homes are. The various log home manufacturers pre-cut most of the log and timber building components and ship them to the home site. We would then install the foundation, frame the first floor deck, and then start assembling the pre-cut log walls and roof structure. It does take a bit more time to do this, as every log locks into each other tightly to keep the house warm and cozy. Another thing one has to consider in log home construction is shrinkage, as the log components are not kiln-dried, and the house, once built, will “shrink” 1 to 2 inches. All in all, they are beautiful, solid structures with plenty of charm and character!
